Developing and Managing the Virtual Workplace, is a self study guide. This guide will help hard pressed business owners to think about the transformation in the workplace, and to establish limits and boundaries for virtual teams.

The Self-Study Guide is designed and laid out in a way that will guide the reader in much the same way that a trainer might do. The guide is also comprised of modules called Sessions. Each Session focuses on part of the overall concept.

In each Session, we have included short-answer and (in some instances) multiple-choice questions which relate directly to the session material. Throughout the guide, you can take the opportunity to internalise what you have learnt by completing various self-reflection exercises.

Developing and Managing the Virtual Workplace is a guide. It’s not designed to be a definitive document. Rather to create and raise awareness of resources, structure and process that should be considered when moving staff to virtual workplace settings.

Virtual workers and virtual teams are an essential part of today’s workforce. More than ever, people are using technology to work anywhere, anytime, and at their own convenience, giving great independence and flexibility.

There are big benefits for creating a virtual workplace, but there can be big challenges, too. This resource will help managers and supervisors to prepare employees for the virtual workplace, creating virtual working programmes, building virtual teams, leveraging technology, and overcoming cultural barriers.
